Ray Harryhausen Returns to Bradford
LONDON, ENGLAND.- Tony Dalton, co–author of Ray Harryhausen, An Animated
Life and The Art of Ray Harryhausen will deliver the 2006 Lumière Lecture.
Tony will give a brief overview of the master stop-motion animator's 60-year
career which will be followed by an illustrated on-stage interview with Ray
Harryhausen himself. Ray Harryhausen is the renowned creator of special
effects for films such as The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms and Jason and the
Argonauts . He is widely admired by filmmakers and audiences alike for his
imaginative, groundbreaking animation work. The Museum's new exhibition
looks at the imagination and research that went into conceiving the
fantastic creatures that populate Harryhausen's films, and the sources of
his inspiration, ranging from Willis O'Brien - the creator of King Kong - to
the prehistoric animal paintings of Charles R Knight and the work of 18th
and 19th century artists whose subjects were drawn from the Bible and the
Classical world.

Jack Black tops best mate poll, Cruise comes in last
Sydney, Aug 21(ANI): While King Kong actor Jack Black has been voted the
best mate, Hollywood hunk Tom Cruise has topped the poll - carried out to
find the celebrity, people would most like to have as their best mate - from
the bottom. Katie Holmes's other half and the father of their new baby Suri
is less popular than the likes of Jack Nicholson, heart-throb Colin Farrell
and Brad Pitt.

man responsible for "The Lord of the Rings" Trilogy, will direct a new,
large-scale remake featuring a monstrous computer generated ape to be
created by Jackson's special effects company, WETA Digital. However, Kong's
origins lay long ago, towards the beginning of the last century in fact.
What follows is a history of the great ape's adventures, on both the large
and small screen. This history's films and TV series are the one's that were
widely released.
