Production Diary: Day 85
As Peter uses as much caffeine to stay awake during those late night shoots
as he can, we get to see everything we wanted to know about those amazing
vintage cars on the New York set. Take a look at the work that goes into
repairing these old classics for use today (including the big switch from
right hand to left hand steering wheels!). Sounds like fun!

New York Night Shoot
Gandalf writes: After a late night adventure I can report that night filming
is well under way! As with other locations before Christmas, the lights for
the New York set are clearly visible from the other side of town and I
couldn't help but be attracted to them. It would seem I'm not the only
interested fan as several others were also viewing (and listening to) the
action. Only part of the set was being used, namely the street with what was
the Burlesque house but is now the Princess Theatre. We watched extras take
place in the street ready for action which followed the sounding of a loud
horn.

New York Set Changes Face
Gandalf writes: A glorious day in the capital today after a fog shrouded
harbour yesterday. Not a lot of action visible on the New York set, but
changes are noticeable on careful inspection. Notably, there is a lot more
snow lying around now and some of the buildings appear to be sporting new
names as the set is transformed into different parts of the city for more
filming. Just a few photos today, but a quick game of "spot the difference"
with earlier shots reveals the poles supporting the elevated tracks are now
gone, and among other changes the Burlesque house appears to be a different
theatre.

Production Diary: Day 82
Here at KongisKing.net we get tons of emails from people asking how they can
become an extra on King Kong. Production Diary 82 gives you that experience!
Liz Mullane, NZ Casting Director and a whole team of folks at Big Primate
show us the ins and outs of hundreds of extras on the New York Set. Hours
before even hearing the words 'Lights, Camera....' these extras are given a
costume (one of three that they will switch into), added to the makeup queue
and paraded around the set like busy ants going about their business. It's
not all glitz and glam that some are led to believe...but it still sounds
like fun! Take a look!

KONG HISTORY: King Kong is back. In 2005, writer/director Peter Jackson, the
man responsible for "The Lord of the Rings" Trilogy, will direct a new,
large-scale remake featuring a monstrous computer generated ape to be
created by Jackson's special effects company, WETA Digital. However, Kong's
origins lay long ago, towards the beginning of the last century in fact.
What follows is a history of the great ape's adventures, on both the large
and small screen. This history's films and TV series are the one's that were
widely released.
