At the end of the original "King Kong," Carl Denham stands next to the great ape's broken body and declares that it was beauty that killed the beast. Maybe he's trying to assuage his guilt. Denham, and the modern world he represents, killed Kong. Kong isn't lured to New York by his love for Ann Darrow, the would-be starlet Denham picks off the streets to star in his new movie.
