Xoanon @ 2:15 pm EST
NEW YORK (AP) - Lot 47 films, in association with the New Zealand Film Commission, will present ''2001: A New Zealand Film Odyssey,'' featuring ``new, rediscovered and undiscovered'' New Zealand films. The festival will run from Feb. 7-13. The opening film is Harry Sinclair's ``The Price of Milk,'' which explores the boundaries of relationships. The festival also includes Sinclair's first feature, ``Topless Women Talk About Their Lives,'' about five dysfunctional friends whose lives intersect. Other films to be shown: the uncut version of Geoff Murphy's ``Utu,'' a New Zealand classic about a Maori warrior who swears revenge on the British colonizers who killed his family and tribe; Gaylene Preston's documentary, ``War Stories: Our Mothers Never Told Us,'' a look at seven elderly women whose lives are changed by events connected to World War II; Peter Jackson's uncut version of ``Braindead,'' an over-the-top horror film; Robert Sarkies' ``Scarfies,'' a comedy-thriller; and ``What Becomes of the Broken Hearted?'' directed by Ian Mune, the follow-up to ``Once Were Warriors.'' The film festival will also include a short film program that highlights original works coming from New Zealand. On the Net: 2001: A New Zealand Film Odyssey: http://www.lot47.com/nzfest.html

LOTR Trailer
Lewman @ 1:41 pm EST
It's not yet common knowledge that the LOTR trailer is running here in the UK. There wasn't many adverts or news on it (in fact the only bit of press I saw on it was an advert attached to the lost souls ad in The Sun)

But unfortuantly as you guys know there are reports that the trailer is not attached to some screening of 'Lost Souls'. So as not to risk a dissapointed journey, I'm not going myself to see the trailer for a few days, just so that then I know whether it is on or off :)
Meanwhile I'm putting you all in the very capable hands of Harry Knowles, who'll guide you through his LOTR trailer experience :) Click to read his account
You can of course share your experiences with the LOTR trailer in our message forum. Click HERE to post a message :)
PJ answers TBHL LOTR questions
Lewman @ 1:12 pm EST
Well, well imagine my suprise when I went to the official LOTR webpage http://www.lordoftherings.net (which BTW is so much better now, I was very dissapointed with the previous design, as you all my well know, but this one is excellent!) And what do I see in the Q&A with PJ section? Questions that we submitted to PJ answered! Wooo :P That's right PJ did video answers to questions, so why not check them out now! The fans at THE BASTARDS HAVE LANDED ask... The fans at THE BASTARDS HAVE LANDED ask... Remember you'll need the latest version of Real Player installed to view them :)
What is the morale of the cast and crew as filming goes on? This is an extremely long shoot and there must be a feeling of camaraderie among the cast after spending all this time together. Can you tell us what you folks do when not working?
PJ's Reply
I'm very curious about your daily schedule. When you're shooting a three-film, $190 million epic over the course of a year, how do you technically manage it? How do you supervise things such as the second unit, props and costumes and the SFX?

THE BIG TBHL WINNERS - HERE THEY ARE!
Reno @ 2:06 pm EST
At long last (sorry about that folks!) we've finally judged the entries to the TBHL screen play competition! Believe me judging these entries was no mean feat, finding two entries to win these signed posters was hard enough without having to put them in first or second place. Still, as to not keep you good people waiting any longer, without further ado here are the two winning entries: First Place - Brainless By Ryan Dueckman We liked this one because it displayed all the humour, brilliant characters, original and intriguing dialogue and of course, gore as seen in PJ's movies. This is an entertaining B-movie style horror short where the "We have readied the invasion force. Our patrol has found the perfect landing site. We will start with a single insignificant dwelling of zero tactical advantage, just as planned, your lordship. Brilliant strategy, might I add." Second Place - Blackmarket Budgerigars By D.J Madden 'Blackmarket Budgerigars' is a very professionally written response, which describes the scene excellently. Dark humour and one really evil bird "Todd is still sitting on the toilet, humming to himself. There is a bubbling in the water below him. We'll be getting those signed posters to you as soon as possible you lucky, lucky people. Sorry to all the other entrants who didn't win, maybe next time. Other entries that I thought were worth a mention were: Regan Macaulay's vampire film 'They Suck' and Brian Miller's piece 'A Briefcase of Evil'. All that's left now is to say congratulations to the winners, all those who entered, and we wish all you bastards a very happy new year!
evil baddies are, hmm, mice. (Hitch Hikers guide anyone?) Bit of a tribute to Braindead/Dead Alive as well methinks, with the obligatory 'garden gnome used as weapon'. Brilliant!
really made this script stand out over other entries. The action in the short film flows smoothly and quickly making the overall effect an action packed and entertaining entry.
He looks down puzzled."
