'Undertow' star follows in character's footsteps
11/08/04, 4:45 pm EST - Xoanon
Young Brit
Jamie Bell pirouetted his way to a BAFTA award -- the British equivalent of the Oscar -- by landing the title role of a ballet-dancing schoolboy in Billy Elliott four years ago. And for his new turn in the gothic thriller Undertow, he certainly should win a "Good Sport" trophy: In one scene, he suckles a cow's udder. [

Kong Spy
Silmarien sends along more images from the Kong Set. I think these were taken before the more recent images sent in by Gandalf, there seems to be less progress in these images. Take a look! [

Aping effort attracts attention to Kong set
11/08/04, 1:15 pm EST - Xoanon
Like moths to a flame, Wellingtonians are being lured to the forbidden lands of film-maker
Peter Jackson's King Kong movie set by the massive floodlights installed to keep intruders out. The Skull Island set is being constructed on land above the Massey Memorial near Shelly Bay in Wellington. [

New King Kong Toy Details
11/08/04, 1:11 pm EST - Xoanon
From
Figures.com: As previously reported, Playmates Toys had been awarded the master toy license for
Peter Jackson's remake of King Kong scheduled for theatrical release next December. While we weren't even allowed to look at the upcoming toys at the recent NY Fall Toy Fair (a security guard was actually posted at the door to the King Kong showroom!), we do have some new details on what fans can expect come next September. KONG FILES 2: Every Picture Tells A Story
11/06/04, 9:25 pm EST - Xoanon
John Michlig writes: There was scant space between the release in 1933 of KING KONG and its sequel, the "seriocomic" SON OF KONG, but time enough for almost unimaginable tragedy - and I'm not talking about RKO selling off the Pathe soundstages containing much of the Skull Island jungle set (which necessitated the "Denham and company are immediately chased right off the beach" scene in SON OF KONG). New York, New York....New Zealand
11/06/04, 9:21 pm EST - Xoanon
Gandalf writes: Nice day to be out and about in Wellington, so I took a drive to Seaview... After my last visit, I thought the fans might like a more detailed look at some of the construction that's been going on there to help you decide if it really is a New York set being built for Kong (certainly looks that way to me!). These photos taken today (Sun 7 Nov). [

Jack Black comedy and a doll queue
11/06/04, 11:10 am EST - Xoanon
Jack Black is breaking out of Kong-dom for two comedy gigs in New Zealand next month. He and Kyle Gass - his partner in rock-comedy duo Tenacious D - are performing in Wellington and Auckland in the last week of December, presumably after he wraps up his role as Carl Denham in
Peter Jackson's King Kong. [

Another Brick in 'The Wall'
11/05/04, 8:21 pm EST - Xoanon
Gandalf writes: After a quick drive today I can confirm that
Silmarien's photos are indeed of another Kong set. The access road to that location has a Big Primate Pictures set direction sign on it, and it has the same appearance as the smaller outdoor Skull Island set we've seen lots of. Judging by the size of the wall, it must be the section with the gates in it that Kong will break through. [

Production Diary: Day 42
11/04/04, 1:08 pm EST - Xoanon
Peter Jackson reminisces about the 1933 Kong and takes us on a tour of his collection of original Kong models (
!!!) and animatronics used in the film. We also get a great sneak-peak at the swamp scene in his remake, where the crew will be fighting
something.
Jack Black also tries to lip read with earplugs..not an easy task! [

Possible New Kong Sets?
11/03/04, 9:54 pm EST - Xoanon
Silmarien writes: A friend of mine took these photos for me yesterday. The "New Wall" (?) has just been put up around the coast from where the boat is moored. I don't know if this is a new set, but it looks very like The Wall. [

Production Diary: Day 40
11/02/04, 9:22 am EST - Xoanon
Day 40 takes us to the deep dark swamps on Skull Island. PJ and his crew show us what it takes to turn a parking lot into a swamp, including pond scum and fake mud! Followers of The Lord of the Rings will have a sense of
Deja Vu when they see the half-built tree sets and a boat floating past. Some great shots of concept art as well! I love it!! [
