Peter Jackson's King Kong Game Music Interview
12/08/05, 4:05 pm EST - Xoanon
December 08, 2005 - Available on all major platforms, Peter Jackson's King Kong is the official game of the noted filmmaker's latest opus. Carl Denham is a movie director looking for some way to revive his flagging career. He believes such an opportunity exists on Skull Island, a remote place where prehistoric creatures have managed to avoid extinction. Its tropical jungles are also home to the titular primate, an immensely powerful beast standing over 25 feet tall. A playwright by vocation, Jack Driscoll has been hired as the scriptwriter on the project, in which Ann Darrow, an actress struggling to make good in Depression-era New York, has the leading lady role. Her kidnapping by natives who intend to offer her up as a sacrifice to the great ape sets in motion a gripping chain of events that will ultimately culminate in the American metropolis. [ More]

Wired: King Kong Game Gets Five Bananas
12/01/05, 8:18 am EST - Xoanon
Movie games aren't supposed to be this good. As my onscreen alter ego runs through a dense jungle, my real-life heart pounds. A great, shrieking dinosaur pops out of the brush as I realize that I ran out of ammo long ago. I dive for a pile of bones lying on the ground, pick one up and javelin-toss it into the beast's throat. How the hell is next month's King Kong movie going to compete with this? To create Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie, the celebrated director teamed with talented game designer Michel Ancel, whose Beyond Good & Evil won critical acclaim for its cinematic presentation. Kong is an even better game than Ancel's last. [ More]

Game Review on Gamespot
11/23/05, 1:28 pm EST - Xoanon
The first-person action adventure/third-person gorilla beat-'em-up combo genre has been born in Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie. As the long-winded title suggests, this is the game based on the upcoming retelling of the 1933 film by the Academy Award-winning director of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. King Kong feels more like a stand-alone product than a handy cash-in for the license, however. This game blends the aforementioned first-person action sequences with its third-person (or should it be third-gorilla?) components remarkably well, as you traverse the perils of Skull Island as both screenwriter Jack Driscoll and the 800-pound gorilla himself, King Kong.
