Tolkien Online has posted a story about Games Workshops extreme security when it comes to protecting there LOTR projects.

A special area of the Design Studio has been
set aside just for the designers who are working on this project and they are
all locked into a small room with no phone or internet access, a couple of
computers and even a keypad on the door with a code that is changed daily.

Legolas in Diablo II?
Berendir @ 7:02 pm EST

A while ago Olorin from the Gaming Boards mentioned he had a Diablo II clan going, or would like to expand on one at least. He recently posted some more info on it, and though theres no site to go join this clan, I thought I'd post it to give people an idea of the kinds of things they could do to make a more Middle Earthish atmostphere in different games.

The clan is basically a group of people who like Tolkien and Diablo II. All characters have to be hardcore, and members should help each other out in quests, which could make it slighty easier to beat Diablo on Hell level :). The group should also share equipment, so although you can't be an Elf or a Dunadan in Diablo, if your name is, for instance, Legolas, then to keep in the "Middle-earth" atmosphere, your character should try to use bows and knives as much as possible, green/brown carmour etc, and if another member has those items then they could trade with them. Similarly, a player named Durin would have to try and use axes, etc.
One benefit of a clan is that if, say, there were two necros, one could concentrate their skills on summoning while the worked on curses and direct damge.
There's no site (at least until I can figure out how to use Ws_ftp) at the moment, but people could keep in touch by using MSN Messenger (or icq) or e-mail.
Just a thought.

So just to recap, if anyone is thinking of creating a character named Bilbo, he better not be wielding a large sword or war hammer.

The Siege Ends!
Berendir @ 1:15 pm EST

Hail loyal supporters of Khazad-dum. I bring joyous news that resulted after the tragic death of many a brave Dwarf.

Using your decision we closed off all entrances into the main chambers of Khazad-dum except for one, which we guarded fiercly. Our numbers dwindled each day in defense, but the enemy wore down in stride with us.

Things began to look bleak as our reinforcements were waining, till one day we heard terrfific cries of, "Baruk Khazad, Khazad Ai-Menu!" coming from deep in Khazad-dum, we'd been saved! Some how a few of the Dwarves survived from the ambush when they set out to find help, and after much trouble brought help from up north where a band of Dwarven traders was traveling.

There weren't many who came to our aid, but the enemy was broken down, and fled at the sudden onslaught. We are making preparations to avenge our losses, but the quest to rebuild Khazad-dum to its former glory will go on, thanks to your leadership!
