Friends and Foes Expansion
Berendir @ 4:18 pm EST
From: Christopher Swann Hey, I don't actually know if this is news at all, but seeing as I haven't seen anything about releases of Friends and Foes (the expansion to the Reiner Knizia LotR Bard Game), I thought that I could say that it's out in the UK now, for £17.50. The expansion contains at least 1 new Gandalf card, 30 new Foes including Spiders, Easterlings and Variags, many other new cards, and two new Scenario Boards: Bree and Isengard (hence the box art of Orthanc). Anyway, it looks really great, so I'd really recommend anyone who owns the board game to buy the expansion. Thanks for the tip Chris : D
I haven't seen it in W.H. Smith's though, but I did see it in a hobby shop called White Knight Games, so any UK Ringers might have some luck looking in local hobby shops.
And if anyone doesn't own the board game, buy it!
Check out the great LOTR Boardgame artwork Here.
Naming The Nazgul
Berendir @ 3:58 pm EST

One of the biggest challenges we face in designing The Lord of the Rings™ Trading Card Game is maintaining the level of authenticity expected by Tolkien purists, while keeping the game as accessible and appealing as possible to the new fan who has perhaps just seen the movie. This is a difficult issue, as much work has been done in the industry in the past based on Middle-earth. Before we could even start, we had to find out exactly what the purists consider canon. [More]

"How We Made The LOTR Game"
Berendir @ 3:25 pm EST
Straight from Games Workshop on the creation of their LOTR miniatures game. Once upon a time, in a land far away… No! We’re not going to start like that! Here’s what really happened. When we heard that New Line Cinema was going to make a film of The Lord of the Rings, everyone at Games Workshop got really excited. We had spent years enjoying The Lord of the Rings book and dreamed of the day when someone would undertake to bring this epic saga to the screen. Now we would finally get the chance to see the Fellowship, the Ringwraiths, the evil Orcs and all the other amazing characters from Tolkien’s trilogy brought to life. [More]

Updates from Decipher
DarthCaeser @ 9:16 pm EST
Tom Lischke of Decipher, one of the developers of the Lord of the Rings Trading Card Game, has begun posting articles explaining the rules of the game and giving some behind the scenes looks at how they were created: "The first issue is, "Why do all of the players in the game start with a copy of Frodo and a copy of The One Ring?" A fair question. After all, it is the ONE Ring, right? Well, when we set out to design The Lord of the Rings TCG, we asked ourselves exactly what was it that players wanted to simulate with their gameplay. For most, that answer is Frodo's quest to destroy the One Ring. Some may want to explore Middle-earth beyond this, but when looking for the focus of the game, the Ring-bearer's journey seemed the strongest glue to hold things together." [More]

Decipher is also continuing to release card images. Today's Decipher card is Samwise Gamgee, companion of Frodo on his journeys through Middle Earth. The images continue to pile up! Wanna see more? Go Here.
